I am new to Qualys and would like to know if we can extract reports from Qualys API and load them into SQL Server ? (or) can we establish a direct connection from Tableau ?
You could do either; here would be MY approach mileage may vary
Create the report template in Qualys to give you all the data you need and output the data in either XML or CSV. Once you have the report giving you what you need then you could run the report on a regular schedule what ever that schedule is.
Next I would have a script that would take the following steps; if all needed (depends on the api call)
Login to Qualys
List most recent reports
Pick the report that is most recent
Download the report in the format specified (XML,CSV)
Try to verify the download some how that you did not get an error
delete the report from the report share; otherwise it will fill up as MINE does ALL the time breaking things
Logout of Qualys
Now you can either do an import into SQL Server; CSV would be super easy
You could then either connect Tableau to the CSV, XML or the Database. Not familiar with the product as I try to write my own or leverage open source when I can first just for proof of concept stuff.
If you need any help with the API as I am doing some of this.
