There is DHCP enabled in our organization. We got a request to add 100 assets to Qualys.
Which tracking method is more preferable in this case.
You should be using DNS tracking or NetBios tracking. Looks like you're just starting out, please look at our training videos and documentation on qualys.com/training.

If you go this route, make sure you have controls in place to prevent people from altering the dns or netbios. For instance, if you have unauthenticated dynamic dns or everyone is an admin on their box, then anyone can change the name of their asset and you will have trouble tracking... So ensure controls are in place. The other way around this would be the cloud agent*.
*Note, a physical scan is still required to detect remote only findings.
Hi shyam_raj and derekv - So we are still seeing duplicate assets even after switching all of our DHCP issues hosts to scan by DNS. We scan these assets every 30 days and I wanted to add a mid month scan but that is only going to make the duplicate asset issue even worse. We are talking about 100,000+ duplicate assets. Right now, deploying the agent is not an option. Any other suggestions?
