I ran a report on 'Host Scan Times' and notice printers had the largest times. Is there a recommended scan profile for scanning network printers?
Long scan times are sometimes seen because firewalls block the ports. Like this:
Do you see any such ports with unknown shown on them? Open your scan results and look for Open TCP Services List (QID 82023) and Open UDP Services List (QID 82004) in the Information Gathered section.
If yes, you may avoid these ports under Scans > Option Profiles > Additional > Blocked Resources > Custom Port List
This should improve your scan time.
Let us know your findings.
If you are concerned about blocking those ports for all devices by modifying the option profile (hence possible missing other issues), you could move those slow-performing devices into another asset group / tag and use a restricted option profile port list as Shyam suggested but only for those devices. All other devices use the main option profile without restrictions.
Thanks All! Both ideas sounds great!
