Having issues with Qualys process hanging on webserver and causing 100% cpu usage

This is the second time we\'ve had a web server at 100% utilization. We scan this server weekly and do not have this issue, yet I ran an ad-hoc scan on this server this morning and a Qualys process request hung for hours after the scan and had the web server at 100% cpu usage.

 

I've attached a snippet showing the hung Qualys process 2.5 hours after the end of the scan. 

 

Qualys tech support is not being very helpful in identifying the cause. 

 

Has anyone else seen this and identified the cause?
