Trying to scan external addresses with PCI options and they just sit in running mode and never complete. Last scan still running after 22 hours!
Why is the scanner still trying? How can I find out why the appliance just hangs?
There are reasons for a scan to run for 22 hours but we are typically able to work through those with customers. Please do open a Support case and work with one of our engineers to optimize your scan settings and/or target environment.
There was an issue which we have fix for this and its in testing cycle. Your issue may be related to that. Please contact support immediately.
Are you using the 'general' PCI Option Profile? I've had issues with that and was told by Qualys support not to use that option profile for scanning. If I shouldn't use it, it shouldn't be there.
The default "PCI Option Profile" is the recommended approach for scanning external IPs. For internal IPs, we do not recommend using this. Instead it is recommended to follow the workflow highlighted in How to Satisfy the New PCI Internal Scanning Requirements
