Map discovers device/IP not in the domain I'm mapping

Question asked by Brendan Fanning on Jun 1, 2015

Why would this be so.

I have a number of separate IP ranges which are map scanned nightly for devices not in subscription.

Every now and again I'll discover a device with a fairly random IP, which clearly belongs to a major internet service provider here in Australia.

For example, tonight I discovered a device "203.50.x.x" - belonging to an ISP, and this is NOT in any way part of the network ranges I am trying to scan?  Why then is this suggested as a new discovered device? is it merely "in path" to something I am trying to scan?
