Is there a way to add/create additional "Control Technologies" on top of the predefined ones?
Looked the Documentation and Community site but can't find anything on it.
A defined control in the control library, whether pre-existing or user-defined holds a default vale for pass criteria. When you add that control to your policy then you can override that pass criteria.
Therefore you can create a policy for Win2k3R2 and a different policy for Windows 2003 64bit SP2 systems, both with the same control but each with a different pass criteria in the policy.
You can also use Asset Tagging to automatically target the right OS versions each time your policy report runs.
For Qualys defined controls the only thing you can do is put in a feature request to have more Technologies added to that control.
For User Defined Controls, They have a very long list of Operating Systems that I am sure which ever one you are looking for can be found (aix, centos,UPUX,mac os,opensuse, solaris, etc. etc.) if not, it would be another feature request.
The issue I have is with FIM. E.g. Windows 2003 R2 has not the same hash values of most of its core files as Windows 2003 64bit SP2. This goes for others as well like e.g. 2008 etc.
Qualys PC Control lets you only define one Hash for 2003 per file. Also recreating seems not to be an option as QualysGuard knows the file already exists in its DB which results in Overwrite Option).
Clearly I would think I am not the first one encountering this. Is there a workaround/solution for this?
