You can control this yourself.
Go to your own profile, click "Edit profile & privacy" under Actions in the right column, and click the Privacy Settings tab:
- if you set "Name" visible to "Yourself", then other users will see your community username
- if you set "Name" visible to "Everyone", then other users will see your first and last names
You can also set "Name" visible to "Registered Users" and "Friends" with the expected results.
