We're making some changes on Qualys Community to make it easier for you to find what you're looking for and to make it easier to join the conversation.

Blogs: The biggest change is to move the The specified item was not found. and The specified item was not found. from a separate blogging platform onto Qualys Community where they'll be hosted side-by-side with the The specified item was not found. and The specified item was not found..  That means you can find all the blogs from Qualys at one location, https://community.qualys.com/blogs/, or you can still access them individually.

Discussions: The homepage has been streamlined to focus on discussions, so you get better visibility into what people are talking about when you go to https://community.qualys.com

Tabs: The new tabs give you one-click access to the different types of content from anywhere on the site:

  • Social Media puts Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn content in one place so it's easy to connect with us on whatever platform you prefer.

  • Events is a calendar of upcoming local and customer events, speaking engagements, webcasts, and training, so you can know where to see Qualys and other customers face-to-face.

  • Training shows all upcoming training courses, plus links to the QualysGuard video series and other training resources.

  • Help Center contains support and how-to articles with solutions to common challenges, as well as links to system update / maintenance notifications and the QualysGuard platform status page.

We've also started a new thread for people to introduce yourselves. Let the community know something about you!

I hope you find the changes helpful.  Please let us know what you think.

Regards,

Robert and the team at Qualys

P.S. Some people have reported issues with page rendering -- but they were all fixed by clearing their browser cache. Thanks!

We released a few more improvements to the Qualys Community user experience.

Due to popular demand, we added the ability to share links from the Qualys Community on Facebook.  Everywhere you see the "Share this" link, you may now select the Facebook icon to share that page with all your friends on Facebook.

Of course, you can still share with Twitter, LinkedIn, Google and E-mail too!

New members will also experience an improved sign up process with fewer steps and clearer instructions.  We added a note during the sign up process to make everyone aware that the Username you choose will be visible to everyone -- it's recommended not to use an email address for your Username.

The process for joining social groups, where sets of community members can interact around a specific topic area, is now streamlined.  For public social groups, such as the regional The specified item was not found., you join in a single click from the group homepage.  For private social groups, such as the ones for each Qualys training course that course attendees are invited to join, we've reduced the number of steps to accept the invitation.  Social group members can choose to receive  email notifications of new activity in a given group by selecting the Receive Email Notifications  link from the Actions box on the group's homepage.

Lastly, we fixed an intermittent issue for Firefox users that prevented the Share this link from showing up, and we cleaned up a few graphical inconsistencies to improve the overall member experience.

Cheers,

Keith

Update: Maintenance complete.  Site back online at 4:43PM Pacific Time

Qualys Community will be unavailable for scheduled maintenance on Thursday, September 9th, 4 - 6PM Pacific Time (GMT-7).

During the downtime, the community platform will be upgraded with a minor (dot-dot) release.  The upgrade will fix an issue that disables email notifications, and it will fix some other minor issues.

Email notifications make it easy to keep up with what is happening in the Qualys Community.  When you start a discussion thread or reply to an existing thread, you will receive an email whenever someone else replies to the thread.  Or you can simply click "Receive email notifications" in the Actions box on any discussion thread page.  In addition, you can reply to any email notification in your email client, and your reply will be posted to the discussion without requiring you to go to the site. You can also receive email notifications for other types of community content including blogs, documents, entire communities, or even other community members by clicking "Receive email notifications" in the Actions box on the relevant page.  And you can always stop email notifications by clicking "Stop email notifications"; and you can change your default settings at Your Stuff -> Preferences -> Email Notifications.

I hope you'll find email notifications to be a helpful way to get notified when there's activity on Qualys Community content that is interesting to you.

Cheers,

Keith

Hello and welcome to the Qualys community.  We have been working very hard to bring this new and exciting addition to our website to you.  There are many great features ready for you to participate in, however like all first drafts there are known issues we are working on.

General Issues:

  • FIXED: Sign Up box appears on the homepage for logged in users.
  • FIXED: The create new discussion, document, and blog post pages have a minimal style.
  • FIXED: The "Select a Qualys product" menu on the homepage requires you to click and hold to see the menu, unless you click on the right side down arrow.
  • Searching for users is not returning all the users that match the search request.

Browser based issues:

  • FIXED: IE:  The following pages appear to be blank: Browse Communities, Browse Groups, Browse People, and Browse Tags.
  • FIXED: IE:  The "Select a Qualys product" menu on the homepage is a plain dropdown menu.
  • FIXED: IE6:  The right sidebar may appear below the page content and vice versa.
  • FIXED: IE6:  Some icons may have grey backgrounds.
  • IMPROVED: IE6:  Misc. layout and display inconsistencies.

Please feel free to comment on this post to engage with us as we work to resolve these issues.
